There were no immediate reports of serious injuries in a shots-fired incident in Newark's Central Ward on Thursday evening.
A ShotSpotter device activated near 190 Muhammad Ali Avenue around 8:47 p.m., sending police to the scene to investigate.
Police found several shell casings on the ground, but no victims were located after officers searched the area.
The suspect fled the scene and has not been apprehended.
It is not clear who the target of the shooting was at this time.
