Elizabeth police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that resulted in multiple hospitalizations and significant traffic delays on Route 1&9 during the Tuesday morning rush hour.The crash occurred shortly before 6 a.m. near Lafayette Street, involving three vehicles.
According to police, the impact of the crash caused a pickup truck to partially land on the concrete median and then come to rest on one of the cars involved in the collision.
Elizabeth Police Spokeswoman Ruby Contreras reported that two individuals were transported to University Hospital in Newark for treatment, while a third person was taken to Trinitas Hospital.
The extent of their injuries has not been confirmed.
The crash closed several lanes, causing commuters to experience delays as emergency crews responded to the scene.
