UPDATE: Sedan Strikes Multiple Pedestrians in Hudson County Hit-and-Run, Two in Life-Threatening Conditions

Hudson County officials announced that on September 4, shortly after 12:00 a.m., the North Bergen Police Department responded to the area of Tonnele Avenue and 46th Street in North Bergen on reports of a single vehicle striking multiple pedestrians.

Upon arrival, responding officers found two individuals with life-threatening injuries. Authorities say the vehicle that struck them had left the scene.

During the preliminary investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department, it was discovered that a mid-size sedan struck a 56-year-old female and her 3-year-old grandson, both from Queens, N.Y., while they were crossing the street at that intersection.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying the driver who fled the scene.

Officials say the two victims of the collision were transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where they are currently being treated for their injuries.

Both of the victim’s injuries are critical and life-threatening at this time.

The collision is being actively investigated by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department.
