There is an active search and investigation underway for a suspect who violently attacked a woman inside her Newark South Ward home causing fatal injuries overnight weekend.
The family of **Ms. Nellie Marquez, 55,** is pleading for the community's help to come forward to police with any information on the brutal attack that left Marquez dead inside her home on Saturday.
According to a brief statement released by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, Ms. Marquez was found in her home in the 100 block of Dayton Street street after police received calls reporting an injured person before 3p.m.
Units arriving at the scene found Ms. Marquez unconscious and unresponsive at that location.
Authorities say medical personnel pronounced Ms. Marquez dead at the scene.
According to The Essex County Prosecutor's Office, the official cause of death will be determined by the State Regional Medical Examiners Office, but a preliminary investigation indicates Ms. Marquez died from blunt force trauma.
