Police in the Essex County town of Irvington are searching for an armed suspect who opened fire on a street in a section of the Township Monday night.
According to Irvington Township Police officials, sometime before 9:30 p.m., patrol units responded to 1128 Springfield Avenue on a report of shots fired.
Irvington Police officials said once officers made it to the scene, they secured the area and located evidence that a shooting occurred, but no suspects were observed.
Police said several shell casings were located, but after a search of the area, no gunshot victims were found.
Area hospitals also proved negative for any victims, officials said.
The Irvington Police Detective Division is investigating the matter.
