Police are investigating a roof collapse of a charter school in the city's North Ward today.
Authorities said shortly before 1 p.m., members of the Newark Fire and Police Divisions responded to the report of a roof collapse at the Maria L. Varisco Charter School located on Woodside Avenue.
There were no students in the school at the time of the collapse and the staff members who were in the school were safely evacuated officials said.
There were no reported injuries resulting from the collapse.
The roof collapsed into the second floor classroom area.
The Department of Engineering inspected the building and has determined that the structure is stable.
The cause of the collapse remains undetermined and under investigation at this time authorities said.
