UPDATE: Robbery Suspect Attacks Dollar General Employee, Stole Over $3,700 in Newark

Newark police are searching for a suspect involved in a violent armed robbery that took place on Sunday, July 21.AdAt approximately 8:29 a.m., a male suspect entered the Dollar General Store located in the 400 block of Springfield Avenue through the right-side rear entrance.

He approached a cashier at the register and demanded cash.

According to Director Fragé, the suspect gestured that he had a handgun and struck the employee on her left side.

The employee then opened the store’s safe and handed over a night deposit bag containing $3,776.33.

After taking the money, the suspect exited the store through the same entrance and headed northbound on South 6th Street.

Detectives describe the suspect as having a light complexion, standing 5’7” tall, with a thin build of approximately 150 pounds.AdHe was wearing all-black clothing, a full black ski mask, and black Nike AirForce sneakers with ankle straps.
