Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose announced today that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Route 1 & 9 Southbound on the Pulaski Skyway.
According to authorities at approximately 11:23 p.m. yesterday Freddie Montanez, 32, of Ridgefield Park was killed when his motorcycle was involved in a four-vehicle crash.
Montanez was pronounced dead at the scene authorities said.
The other vehicles included a second motorcycle, a Toyota Highlander and a Nissan Murano.
The driver of the second motorcycle sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities said he is hospitalized in stable condition.
Neither of the drivers of the cars sustained serious injuries.
None of the drivers have been charged at this time.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
