Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura have announced that the reward for information leading to the identification of those responsible for the January 3, 2024, shooting death of Imam Hassan Sharif has been increased to $35,000.
Imam Sharif was shot as he was about to enter Masjid Muhammad on South Orange Avenue for morning prayers.
Despite being rushed to University Hospital, he was pronounced dead a few hours later.
The investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing.
