Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Hawthorne Police Chief Richard McAuliffe announce that at approximately 9:44 p.m., on Saturday, Hawthorne Police responded to Lafayette Avenue, in response to collision involving a 2017 Jeep Wrangler and the 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle, near the Wells Fargo.
Police say the driver of the Jeep Wrangler was not injured.
The rider of the Harley Davidson, Kasey Checke, 49, of Ramsey was pronounced deceased at approximately 10:13 p.m.
Police say his female passenger was transported to Saint Joseph’s Hospital where she is in critical condition.
The investigation, being conducted by the Hawthorne Police Department, in conjunction with the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department, remains active and ongoing.
