A man who held police at bay after he barricaded himself inside a house in Winfield early this afternoon has surrendered and the incident has come to an end.
Police surrounded the house located in the 30's block of Seafoam Avenue at around 3 p.m. after a man who was believed to have been armed refused to come out.
Police from several surrounding municipalities including emergency responders from the Union County Office of Emergency management and SWAT arrived to the scene in attempt to have the man surrender.
The man eventually surrendered to police at around 5:15 p.m. and was taken away on a gurney for medical evaluations and was not injured by police.
The circumstances behind the incident has not been released at this time.
Police are investigating.
