Authorities in Newark request the public’s help with identifying the suspects who robbed a victim at gunpoint of her money and personal belongings on September 19, 2023.
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said that the victim reported to police that three Black males approached her at approximately 10:35 p.m. and demanded that she give them her belongings while she was in the 60 block of Monroe Street.
Authorities say two of them began to go through her pockets, and one of them pulled out a gun, pointing it in her face.
Officials said they took her purse containing $40.00, credit cards, a cell phone, and her driver’s license before fleeing northbound on Monroe Street.
The first suspect is described as having a dark complexion and a thin build, and he was wearing all-black clothing with white sneakers and a black face mask, officials say.
The second suspect, officials stated, was described as having a dark complexion, a heavy build, and was wearing a white mask, gray sweatpants, a black hooded sweatshirt, and shoes.
The third suspect was described as having a dark complexion and a thin build and was wearing a white mask, sneakers, a tan hooded sweatshirt, and gray shorts, officials said.
According to officials, a heavy-set African-American female was with the suspects prior to the incident and was later observed purchasing food with them using a credit card taken from the victim.
Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the suspects to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
