UPDATE: Police Search for Suspect Who Shot Two Juveniles in Newark’s South Ward

Police in Newark are continuing to search for the suspects who opened fire in a Newark South Ward neighborhood that struck two male high school students on Saturday night.

According to officials, police responded to reports of multiple gunshots that rang out in the 40’s block of Treacy Avenue at around 9:30 p.m.

Police arrived at the scene found the first boy suffering non-life threatening gunshot wounds then after a search of the vicinity, they reportedly found the second victim struck two times in the leg in the 80’s block of Baldwin Avenue.

Police say the gunman carelessly sprayed several blocks at the teens who ran for their lives in an attempt to flee from the suspect.

Police had Treacy to Seymour avenues and Madison to Clinton avenues shut down where the crime scene consisted of blood, nearly a dozen shell casings and other evidence located Farley Avenue.

The juvenile victims who attend a Newark public high school are expected to make a full recovery and the motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
