Newark –Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Professional Standards Bureau/ Critical Incident Response Team is investigating a police involved shooting in which two individuals were killed.
Authorities said none of the officers were injured and the third suspect is in custody.
The preliminary investigation indicates the incident occurred at approximately 6:30 am today in the 500 block of North 7th Street.
Authorities said that the investigation is being handled by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Pursuant to the Attorney General guidelines, the Newark Police Department is recused from participating in the ongoing investigation.
The investigation is active and ongoing authorities said.
