The woman whose body was found in the ocean on Tuesday afternoon has been identified by authorities.
NJ state Police and the Ocean City Police, responded to the beach at 57th Street for the recovered body, later identified as Cheryl Reda, 47, of Ocean City.
Her cause of death has been ruled by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office as drowning and the manner of death has not been yet determined.
The NJSP Major Crimes Unit, Missing Persons Unit, Cape May Prosecutor’s Office and the Ocean City Police responded to the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, but the death is not considered suspicious and there were no obvious signs of trauma to the victim.
