A late evening shooting that left a man dead in Newark's South Ward has police looking for suspects.
According to authorities, Mr. Eric Lasure, 30, was fatally shot in the 100 block of Leslie Street at around 8 p.m., while he attempted to retrieve items from a vehicle.
EMS rushed Lasuren to University Hospital in Newark where he was pronounced dead just before 10:15 p.m., authorities said.
The shooting is under investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office's Homicide and Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department.
The suspect remains at large.
This is the city's 9th homicide of the year.
