Police in Newark apprehended a Belleville Man for allegedly operating an illegal after-hours spot in the city's East Ward.
According to authorities, Luis A. Vega, 37, of Belleville, was taken into custody this morning for operating an illegal after-hours and causing a nuisance.
Police said at approximately 4:10 a.m., officers responded to 219 Emmett Street after being alerted by a concerned citizen of noise at the location.
Officers observed alcohol being sold to patrons inside the establishment, which had no liquor license police said.
Several bottles of alcohol were confiscated after police arrested Vega and charged him with Maintaining a Nuisance.
This charge is merely an accusation.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Director Ambrose urges Newark residents to continue reporting crimes and quality of life concerns to police. “We will continue to act upon these complaints and take the necessary abatement actions,” he said.
