Bloomfield Police are investigating a pedestrian strike that left a person injured on Sunday night.
According to a statement released by Bloomfield City Spokesman Daniel Knitzer, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a vehicle was traveling west on Bloomfield Avenue approaching Newark Avenue when the pedestrian crossed Bloomfield Avenue against the flow of traffic.
Spokesman Knitzer said the driver of the vehicle was unable to stop in time, striking the pedestrian.
A witness observed that the pedestrian crossing Bloomfield Avenue in a marked crosswalk with his hood up and his head down looking at his cell phone according to Spokesman Knitzer.
The pedestrian was transported to University Hospital with injuries to his face, knees, hip and remains in stable condition.
