Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes announced the arrest of 35-year-old Paterson resident Mr. Anmar Oudah in connection with a stabbing that occurred early in the morning on March 3 in the East Railway Avenue area of Paterson. Passaic County authorities said Oudah faces charges of first-degree attempted murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
The incident was reported around 5:00 a.m., prompting a swift response from the Paterson Police Department.
Upon arrival, officers found a 30-year-old male victim, also a Paterson resident, with a non-fatal stab wound.
The victim was immediately rushed to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center in Paterson for treatment.
A thorough investigation by the Paterson Police Department led to the identification of Oudah as the assailant, resulting in his arrest at approximately 6:00 a.m. the same day.
The serious charges against Oudah include attempted murder, which carries a sentencing range of 10 to 20 years in state prison.
As the legal process moves forward, the State plans to file a motion for pretrial detention.
It's important to note that criminal complaints are simply accusations, and all defendants are considered innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
