An Orange woman accused of driving drunk on the Garden State Parkway in Irvington this morning, seriously injuring herself and her passenger.
According to Sgt. Gregory Williams, a New Jersey State Police spokesman, 43-year-old Crystal Simmons lost control of the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu at milepost 143.6 of the parkway, striking the guardrail of the southbound lanes.
The impact ejected the passenger, later identified as 35-year-old Heather Brown, of Shrewsbury.
According to police, Simmons and Brown were taken to University Hospital in Newark with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
