On Sunday morning, a critical incident took place at the Hampton Inn in Old Bridge, prompting an investigation by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
At approximately 2:57 a.m., Old Bridge Police Department officers were dispatched to the hotel located at 300 Spring Valley Road following reports of a disturbance.
Upon their arrival, officers encountered a male suspect in the act of stabbing a female victim.
In a bid to neutralize the threat, law enforcement officials shot and injured the assailant.
The suspect was subsequently transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office has taken charge of the investigation into the officer-involved shooting, emphasizing that the inquiry is active and ongoing.
Community members with information or who may possess surveillance footage of the area during the time of the incident are urged to come forward.
