A crash that killed a woman on the Garden State Parkway in Irvington last night is under investigation by authorities.
According to a preliminary investigation by the NJ State Police, a spokesperson for the department told RLS Metro that at around 7:51 p.m., a vehicle that was driven in the southbound middle lanes of the highway near milemarker 144.8 attempted to switch lanes and somehow lost control, running off of the highway on the right side.
The 1998 Ford Windstar overturned and ejected the driver and the front seat passenger out of the vehicle and onto the roadway the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson identified the drive as Sabrina Jordan, 37, of Hillside and the front seat passenger, as Jordan's 7-year-old daughter.
The child was transported to University Hospital where her injuries were not reported as life threatening the spokesperson said.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Jordan or the child were not wearing seatbelts during the incident.
Jordan was pronounced dead at around 8:26 p.m. the spokesperson said.
The crash is under investigation.
