UPDATE: NJ Man Pleads Guilty to Fatal Shooting on Atlantic City Boardwalk

Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Friday, January 17, Jahlil Boston, 35, of Egg Harbor City, pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter.AdPursuant to the plea agreement, officials say that Boston agreed to serve 28 years in New Jersey State Prison. 

The prison sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act, which requires the defendant to serve 85% of his sentence before being eligible for parole, and he will be subject to parole supervision for an additional five years upon release.

According to Atlantic County officials, on March 18, 2023, members of the Atlantic City Police Department responded to the 1900 block of the Atlantic City Boardwalk for reports of a male shot.

Upon officers’ arrival, a 34-year-old male was located suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased on scene, and surveillance footage captured the shooting incident, Atlantic County authorities said. 

Later that night, County officials said, Boston was apprehended a few blocks away from the scene in possession of the handgun used to shoot the victim.

Boston remains incarcerated in the Atlantic County Justice Facility, officials stated. AdAtlantic County officials stated that he is scheduled to be sentenced on March 12, 2025.
