Authorities from the Pennsylvania state police arrested a Newark woman after they said she was driving under the influence of marijuana in a crash that fatally injured her two grandchildren last year.
According to authorities, charges were filed on Wednesday against Nadine Walton, 55, of Newark, following the Sept. 14 crash that occurred on Interstate 78 near Bethlehem.
Authorities reportedly found marijuana and 49 Oxycodone pills inside Walton’s purse and several bottles of alcohol in the car during their search of the vehicle reports said. Court records show Walton’s blood tested positive for marijuana.
The crash killed Ravon Robinson, 5, at the scene. Authorities said Ravon's 2-year-old sister, Brielle Robinson, died several days later at a nearby hospital. Both children were riding in the vehicle with Robinson police said.
Robinson and the children were reportedly driving back to Newark after attending a funeral service.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
