UPDATE: Newark Woman Sitting in Car Shot in Elizabeth

Police in Elizabeth are looking into a shooting that left a woman injured on Saturday morning.

According to a statement reasoned by Elizabeth city spokeswoman Kelly Martins, reports of shots fired sent police to the are of Flora and Henry streets at around 12:02 a.m.

Police say they arrived at the scene and found multiple shell casings but after a search of the area, they did not locate a victim.

Police say witnesses described the shooter as skinny, tall, male who was dressed in all black.

According to Spokeswoman Martins, a 29-year-old Newark resident female who was sitting in her vehicle at the time of the shooting suffered gunshot wounds to her left shoulder.

Spokeswoman Martins said the victim drove herself to Beth Israel Hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries.
