UPDATE: Newark Teenager Dies After Being Found Shot in Car in East Orange

In East Orange, a young man's life was tragically cut short several days before Christmas following a shooting incident that is now under investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.

RLS Media first reported that on the evening of December 22, at 8:16 p.m., a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of North Arlington Avenue and New Street led to a grim discovery.

East Orange Police officers responding to the collision found 18-year-old Mr. Alex Cruz of Newark inside one of the vehicles, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Mr. Cruz was urgently transported to University Hospital in Newark, where he was pronounced dead at 9 p.m.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting, including where Mr. Cruz was shot, remain under active investigation by county authorities.

Detectives continue to check into the motive behind this violent attack as they piece together the events that led to the young man's untimely death.
