Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, along with Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé, have announced that a homicide investigation is underway following the fatal shooting of 39-year-old Mr. Antoine Alston of Newark.
The incident occurred early on December 19, at 3:58 a.m. Newark police were called to the scene on the 300 block of Broadway in Newark, where they found Alston suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the prompt response, Alston was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:26 a.m.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force has taken the lead in this active and ongoing investigation.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
