A shooting that left a man dead late last night in Newark is under investigation.
According to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose they announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force and the Newark Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting.
Authorities said Nafia Jahad Treadwell, 22, of East Orange was fatally shot at approximately 6:45 p.m.yesterday in the 100 block of Hawthorne Avenue in Newark.

The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
