According to police, a 22-year-old man accused sending a 71-year-old woman to the hospital after the March 2nd carjacking, is now in custody.
On the day of the incident, the unidentified victim told police she was parking her car on the 100 block of South 13th Street, when she was approached by two men who allegedly tried to steal her vehicle.
After the victim refused to give her keys to the suspects, they reportedly began to beat her before fleeing the scene.
She was transported to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Further investigation led police to identify Dyshawn Basley as a suspect. This morning, police responded to the Irvington area, where they arrested and charged Dyshawn Basley with carjacking, aggravated assault and multiple gun-related offenses.
Basley' bail was set at $300,000, according to officials.
The investigation and search for the second suspect is ongoing.
