NJ State Police officials are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian on an interstate in Somerset County Thursday morning.
According to Sgt. Philip Curry, the collision occurred in the southbound lanes of I-287 near mile marker 16 in Bridgewater Township at 2:29 a.m.
Sgt. Curry said a preliminary investigation revealed that a Volkswagon Tiguan was traveling in the left lane of I-287 south.
According to State Troopers, a pedestrian, identified as Mr. Alfred Hernandez, 38, of Morristown, was walking in the left lane of I-287 south, ahead of the Volkswagon in the area of milepost 16.
At that time, the front of the car struck the pedestrian, causing fatal injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
