The NJ State Police are investigating an early Saturday crash on I-78 in Hunterdon County.According to State Police Sergeant Philip Curry, the incident occurred at 4:37 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-78 at Mile Marker 17.4 in Clinton Township.
Sergeant Curry said preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that a Nissan Sentra was traveling westbound on I-78 when, around milepost 17.4, the Nissan Sentra veered into the center median, then re-entered the road and crossed the westbound lanes.
Tragically, the Nissan collided with a parked and disabled Freightliner semitrailer on the right shoulder.
Sergeant Curry said the impact had fatal consequences for the Nissan's driver, Mr. Kevin Notis II, 24, of Dover.
The driver of the Freightliner escaped injury.
For approximately 4 hours, Sergeant Curry said the two right lanes of I-78 West were closed, causing moderate traffic congestion.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the details of the incident.
