Police have reported an ongoing investigation into a fatal crash that occurred in the City of New Brunswick. Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said the incident took place on Wednesday, March 6, at approximately 7:08 a.m. on Route 1 Northbound, near the Goodkind Bridge.
Authorities, upon arriving at the scene, discovered a collision involving an Infiniti and a Ford Pickup Truck.
The crash resulted in the death of the Ford Pickup Truck's driver, identified as 65-year-old Dennis Frick from Freehold. Frick was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the Infiniti, on the other hand, escaped the incident without any injuries.
Preliminary findings from the investigation, conducted by Officer Gliottone of the New Brunswick Police Department and Detective Alleva of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, suggest that the Infiniti was traveling southbound on Route 1 when it lost control.
The vehicle then veered across the median, colliding with the northbound Ford Pickup Truck driven by Frick.
The investigation into the cause of this catastrophic event is still underway, with authorities actively seeking additional information or video footage that could shed light on the circumstances leading up to the crash.
Members of the public who might have relevant information are encouraged to reach out to Officer Gliottone at the New Brunswick Police Department or Detective Alleva at the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office.
