NJ State Police officials are investigating two separate deadly crashes on highways in the state Thursday.
In the first incident, State Troopers responded to a crash at 2:49 a.m. on Interstate 80 near milepost 26.6, Mount Olive.
Trooper Marchan said that based on a preliminary investigation, a Jeep Wrangler was traveling west on I-80 in the area of 26.6.
According to Trooper Marchan, the Jeep ran off the road to the right and struck a metal guardrail.
As a result of the crash, the driver, Mr. Joseph J. Bauer, 55, of Mount Bethel, PA, was ejected and sustained fatal injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
In the remaining collision, Trooper Marchan said officers responded to a crash at 3:43 a.m.on the NJ Turnpike north on the outer roadway, mp 63.4, Robbinsville.
According to Trooper Marchan, based on a preliminary investigation, Mr. Franklin S. Parker, a 36 of Eden, MD, was operating a tractor-trailer northbound on the New Jersey Turnpike in the area of milepost 63.4 when the tractor-trailer entered the left shoulder and struck the left guardrail, overturned, and impacted a concrete bridge support.
As a result of the crash, Parker sustained fatal injuries, Trooper Marchan said.
The crash remains under investigation
