Police in Newark are reprorting the arrest of a woman wanted for an East Ward carjacking.
Police said Ms. Oziona Okoro, 18, was wanted in connection to a carjacking that occurred on Dawson and Thomas streets on Friday, July 18th.
According to authorities, at approximately 3:40 p.m., at the corner of Dawson and Thomas streets, Ms. Orkoro and an unidentified male accomplice approached the victim armed with a knife.
Police said the male demanded the victim’s car then both suspects entered the victim’s car and drove away.
The suspects also took the victim’s tablet and other personal property police said.
Ms. Okoro, upon becoming aware that she was being sought in connection to the carjacking, turned herself in to police.
Police are charging Ms. Okoro with carjacking, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, aggravated assault,'and conspiracy.
These are mere allegations lodged against Ms.Okoro. She is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
