UPDATE: Man Wanted for Jersey City Murder Arrested

According to police, on September 14, 2018, following a preliminary investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, a Complaint Warrant was issued for the arrest of Jahmir Thomas on a charge of murder and other related offenses in connection with the death of Eric Crocker, 23, of Bayonne which occurred earlier this month.

Police say at approximately 12:05 a.m.,on September 15, members of the Jersey City Police Department Street Crimes Unit arrested Thomas, 20, of Jersey City, without incident in the area of Eastern Parkway in Jersey City.

Police charged Thomas with Murder,; Conspiracy to Commit Murder and Possession of a Weapon (Handgun) for an Unlawful Purpose

Police say Thomas was processed and then transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility in Kearny and is scheduled to make his first appearance on these charges at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, in the Hudson County Administration Building located at 595 Newark Avenue, Jersey City. A motion for a detention hearing has been filed by the State.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department with the arrest.

Police say on Tuesday, September 4, at approximately 5:55 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department received a report of gunshots in the area of Lembeck and Ocean avenues in Jersey City.

Upon arrival, responding Police Officers found a male victim on Lembeck Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.

The victim was later identified as Crocker, 23, of Bayonne was pronounced dead at the Jersey City Medical Center at approximately 6:30 p.m. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and the Manner of death to be Homicide.

The Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit continues to actively investigate this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
