Authorities in the Essex County city of Orange are attempting to find the motive behind a violent home invasion burglary that occurred on Thursday.
According to police, the incident happened at approximately 2:30 p.m. when they learned of an injured person at an unpublished address in the 500 block of Argyle Avenue.
In a preliminary investigation, police say officers arrived at the home -that closely borders- The Village of South Orange and found a male victim suffering a non-life threatening stab wound after the suspects, who were armed with weapons -including guns-, forcefully stormed the home and gained instant physical control of the victims.
Police say the wife of the victim was tied up by the suspects but did not suffer any severe injuries.
Residents in the area told RLS Metro Breaking News that a vehicle that was occupied with at least three people was parked in the area for several hours, even at one point pulled into the victim's driveway, until the woman of the house arrived home.
Authorities believe that it was during this time that the suspects observed the woman go into the residence prompting to made their moves to get inside the home.
Towards the end of the frightening incident, police say the suspects took the victim's two vehicles but not before forcing their teenaged son into one of the cars at gunpoint. The suspects then sped away in all three (3) cars.
According to reports, Newark Police located the uninjured teen in their city limits and officers located the victims' two cars at an unspecified location. It is not clear if the suspect's vehicle was ever found.
Police are looking for three Hispanic suspects -two males and a female- who they believe are responsible for conducting the home invasion stabbing.
Authorities say the female is an adult, approximately 5'5" tall, weighs about 150 pounds, with fair skin and wore her hair in a ponytail. One of the males is about 6ft tall and weighs approximately 240 pounds with a low shaved haircut.
The remaining suspect is about 5'5" tall and weighs about 160 pounds with brown complexion and last observed wearing a baseball cap.
Police have beefed up security in the area and are on an active search for the suspects.
The incident remains under investigation.
