UPDATE: Man Sentenced to State Prison for Violent Fatal Shooting on Atlantic City Boardwalk

Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Wednesday, June 19, Wesley Briscoe, 20, of Atlantic City was sentenced on charges of second-degree aggravated assault, fourth degree pointing a firearm, and fourth degree hindering his own apprehension.AdPursuant to his plea agreement, officials stated, Briscoe was sentenced to an aggregate term of three years in New Jersey State Prison, subject to 85% parole ineligibility under the No Early Release Act and the Graves Act.

He is also subject to three years of parole supervision upon release from prison, officials say. 

According to officials, on the evening of July 8, 2022, into July 9, 2022, a 20-year-old man was shot in the head on the boardwalk in Atlantic City.AdThrough surveillance footage and witness statements, investigators determined that Briscoe committed the shooting after riding his bicycle to the boardwalk, authorities say. 

Officials said under oath during his guilty plea hearing, Briscoe to admitted hiding his clothing after the shooting in order to avoid detection by the police.
