Authorities in Somerset County announced that on November 18, defendant Lenic S. Galvan, 22, currently of Piscataway and formerly of Linden Avenue, Bound Brook, was sentenced to seven years in New Jersey State Prison on his conviction for second-degree Explicit Contact with a victim less than 13 years old.

Somerset Count6y officials stated that the defendant will not be eligible for parole until he serves 85% of the sentence, and the sentence imposed by Somerset County Superior Court Judge Jonathan W. Romankow requires the defendant to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law that places him on Parole Supervision for Life.

During sentencing, Judge Romankow noted defendant Galvan’s predatory behavior,  officials say.

According to Somerset County officials, on July 25, 2021, the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office received information that a 12-year-old child reported that she was explicitly assaulted in Bound Brook by an unknown male who she met on social media.

The investigation into the alleged Explicit Contact was conducted by detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and detectives from the Bound Brook Borough Police Department, Police say.

The 12-year-old female was interviewed by a detective from the Special Victims Unit, who stated that she had met an unknown male on social media, who was later identified as Lenic Galvan, Somerset County officials said. Galvan arranged for transportation for the victim to his residence, where he explicitly assaulted her.

According to Somerset County authorities, on July 26, 2022, as a result of this investigation and DNA results, Defendant Galvan was arrested without incident in Bound Brook and charged with first-degree Aggravated Explicit Contact, second-degree Explicit Contact, and third degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Bound Brook Police said that on May 14, a Somerset County Jury convicted Galvan of second-degree Explicit Contact and third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child after six days of trial.
