A 27-year-old Jersey City man today was sentenced to life in prison for the fatal shooting of a man in 2016.
According to authorities, on July 21, 2016 police were dispatched to Clinton Avenue between Kennedy Boulevard and West Side Avenue at 2:45 a.m. for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Javon Murray dead at the scene.
Officials say that Justin Garcia lured Murray to the scene, where he shot a single bullet that entered the back of his neck and exited through his cheek.
According to authorities, Garcia would have to serve 64 years in prison for the 75-year term before the possibility of parole.
