Newark's public safety authorities confirmed that Newark Firefighters successfully extinguished a 2-alarm fire at 634 15th Avenue on Tuesday, August 29.
Officials said at approximately 4:21 p.m., Newark Firefighters swiftly responded to an emergency call regarding a fire at a three-story occupied building, which included a convenience store on its ground floor.
Due to the intensity of the fire, officials said a second alarm was activated at 4:34 p.m.
Brave responders from Ladder 12 and Engine 12 executed a daring rescue of an uninjured man through a window.
The fire was brought under control by 6:08 p.m., with no reported injuries. Nonetheless, 12 adults and two children had to be relocated as a precaution.
The Newark Department of Public Safety's Arson Unit is currently investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
