An investigation is underway into a shooting that left a mother and son dead at a senior citizen home on Sunday night.
According to authorities, just before 6 p.m. police responded reports of a shooting at Genesis Health Care's Voorhees Center on the 3000 block of Evesham Road in Voorhees.
Units arrived to find two people shot and fatally injured.
According to police, at around 4:15 p.m., a man in his 60s came to visit his mother, who is reported to be around 80-years-old. Police said that the two ate dinner together in the cafeteria in the the facility, then the man took his mom back to her room.
Sometime during the period where the man took his mom back to the room, the man reportedly went to his car then returned to the room where he shot and killed his mother and then turned the gun on himself, police said.
After hearing gunfire, a nurse reportedly ran towards the room and witnessed the man shoot himself.
No other injuries have been reported.
