A multi-vehicle collision in Howell has claimed the life of one male driver early Friday morning, announced Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey.
According to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, on Friday at approximately 12:05 a.m., a 2004 Ford F150 pickup, driven by a male driver of Jackson, traveled westbound on Route 33.
While heading just west of Colts Neck Road, the vehicle crossed the intersection and collided with a 2004 Kia Rio, sideswiping the car.
Monmouth County officials said the pickup then continued westbound in the eastbound lanes and collided in an offset head-on with a second vehicle, a 2010 Dodge Challenger, operated by a male driver, of Neptune Township.
As a result of the second collision, the driver of the Challenger was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The pickup overturned, and the driver was ejected from the vehicle. He is currently in critical condition at a local hospital.
The female driver of the Kia Rio was uninjured in the crash. None of the drivers had any passengers in their vehicles.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, Monmouth County SCART, and Howell Township Police Department.
