Authorities in Essex County are investigating a shooting incident that killed a man in Newark’s North Ward Wednesday.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force said they are leading the investigation into the fatal shooting of Mr. Jayden Jarvis, 20, of East Orange, who was found dead last night in his car in Newark.
Authorities said at 9:43 p.m., Newark police responded to a report of gunshots in the 200 block of 4th Street in Newark.
Police were unable to locate a crime scene but learned there was a motor vehicle accident in the area of First Street and Sussex Avenue in Newark.
Officers found Jarvis in his car, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was taken to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 11:16 p.m.
The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
