A violent and tragic crash occurred early Saturday morning as a pedestrian was struck and killed in East Orange, prompting an investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.According to a statement released by county officials, the incident occurred on Ampere Parkway near North 18th Street.
East Orange police responded to the scene following multiple 911 calls reporting that a person had been hit by a car.
When emergency responders arrived, they discovered a devastating scene: the vehicle had come to rest on top of the victim, a 24-year-old man.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that no other injuries were reported, and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office Crime Scene Investigation Bureau has taken over the case.
The investigation remains active and ongoing as officials work to determine the circumstances leading to the fatal collision.
