Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Tuesday, July 16, Shawn P. Duffy, 39, from Egg Harbor Township, was indicted by an Atlantic County Grand Jury for second-degree leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash and second-degree vehicular homicide related to an incident that occurred on February 6, in Egg Harbor Township.
Officials stated that on February 6, at approximately 6:34 p.m., Duffy was involved in a motor vehicle crash on Steelmanville Road in Egg Harbor Township.
Duffy’s vehicle allegedly struck a bicyclist and fled the scene, officials said.
Officials say the bicyclist, Neil G. Burman, 68, from Egg Harbor Township, was pronounced deceased at the scene because of the injuries he sustained.
According to officials, subsequent investigation revealed Duffy was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the motor vehicle crash.
