The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office leads the investigation into a shooting that killed a man in Jersey City Sunday night.
Officials say at approximately 9:50 p.m., police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Summit Avenue and Poplar Street, prompting a police investigation.
Units arrived and found a man suffering a bullet wound in the back at that location.
Hudson County Prosecutor's Officials said the victim was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center, where he died a short time later.
The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department canvassed the scene, but the suspect fled the area and was not captured.
No other injuries were reported.
