UPDATE: Man Found Dead from Apparent Stab Wounds in Newark's Ironbound Section

Authorities are investigating the death of an individual found with apparent stab wounds in Newark's Ironbound section early Friday morning.

According to Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Frage, the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on July 5. 

Newark police officers discovered the unresponsive male in the area of Magazine and Ferry Street.

Despite efforts to revive him, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:07 a.m.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld until formal identification and notification of next of kin can be completed.

The exact cause of death will be determined following an autopsy at the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office in Newark.

The case is currently under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department.

The investigation remains active and ongoing as authorities seek to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
