The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has taken the lead in an investigation into a shooting that killed a male in Newark on Sunday morning.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, police responded to reports of shots fired near 595 15th Avenue shortly before 12:40 a.m.
Upon arrival, police found the severely injured male suffering bullet wounds after a gunman fired multiple times in his direction.
Police said the victim was rushed to University Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead after failed attempts to revive him.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation and no suspects have been arrested at this time.
