The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office was alerted of a stabbing incident that left a male victim dead in Jersey City Friday night.
A preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 11:57 p.m, police responded to reports of an injured person at the Danforth Avenue Light Rail Station.
NJ Transit officers arrived and requested EMS to rush to the scene after finding an unidentified male bleeding heavily, unconscious and unresponsive.
Emergency responders provided CPR before rushing the male to Jersey City Medical for treatment.
The victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
NJ Transit officials confirmed in a brief statement that The Hudson Bergen Light Rail line was temporarily suspended in both directions during the investigation.
According to NJ Transit, the suspect fled the scene, and The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office has taken over the investigation.
The motive for the attack is under investigation, and no arrests have been reported.
