Newark -- Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced today that Marcus Feliz, 25, of Newark has been charged with the murder of Shani Patel, the 21-year-old Rutgers University student from Toms River, who was fatally shot on Sunday night.
Feliz has been taken into custody and charged with murder, felony murder and robbery. Bail has been set at $750,000 by the Honorable Michael Nelson, Judge of the Superior Court.
Feliz is not a Rutgers University student and is not affiliated with the university.
The second shooting victim remains in stable condition.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
There is no other information is available at this time authorities said.
